This is the age of instant gratification, where people want success yesterday, unfortunately the Internet does not work that way, yes you can have instant communications but building a business will always take time.

You will see many so called business opportunities but to be honest 99.9% are rubbish and should not be considered as a business, they are designed to separate people from their money, so that the only ones that make money are those who start up the opportunity. Marketing your business needs to start long before you pay for anything. You do not make an investment on the stock market before researching the stock of the company and its the same with Internet opportunities. If you are considering joining a new venture look at its Alexa ranking if the ranking is over 100,000, give it a miss.

You might ask why did I say that, well the Internet is packed full of websites going nowhere fast, largely as a result of the fact that anyone can build a website and promote any kind of rubbish and a lot of them are wordpress blogs, which is one of the reasons that all wordpress blogs rank so badly.

Getting to the top of Google is easy for non competitive keywords, however appearing at the top of a list is one thing but you need to have buying customers and that can be an entirely different matter. Many so called marketers have a push button mentality, firmly believing that sending out exactly the same message on a daily basis will result in sales, this cannot be further from the truth. Firstly Wiland697 is a typical MLM junkie seeking to blast out ads for his 5dollarfree program and he does not know what he is doing, if he did he would use his real name. Branding yourself is the first step on the road to success.

Secondly if he has a team of 15K it is doubtful if he has any income, it is a business built on sand, otherwise he would be a gold subscriber.

Thirdly blasting out ads has nothing to do with SEO

Finally look at the time nearing midnight and there is live professional support offering him advice and answering his questions. you are never alone with Veretekk.

Beware of WordPress It can damage your business

Now most people are aware that WordPress.com does not want you to run a business on its site so they offer an alternative WordPress.org where you can go and download the software to host a blog on your own domain and subdomain and this is extremely popular WordPress 3.3 has been downloaded approach 6.5 million times at a rate of over 1 times a second.

So what is the problem, the main problem is security, there are over 14 Million entries on Google about how to hack a wordpress blog and for this reason WordPress is continually proving updates which means you have to spend time updating your systems.

The second problem is the Add-ins, every time you install an add-in or for that matter a blog you are providing a free backlink to the programmer or WordPress, in other words you are advertising their business. Advertising is fine so long as you get paid for it. You can resolve these problems by editing the PHP files and removing or replacing all the links but this is quite time consuming and will be overwritten when the block or add in is next updated.

There seems to be add ins to do anything, but the more you have the greater exposure to hacking and the slower your system will run.

Wordpress is popular because it is easy to get a website up and running, but if you are serious about your business you need to find a better solution and one that will not only be secure but offer improved Alexa ranking. A measure of i-get-going-today.com's popularity in a specific country. The complete list of i-get-going-today.com's ranks by country is on the 'Traffic Stats' tab below. This is now, just after some days, ranked at about 12,362, in the General. When you consider that starting out, I had an Alexa.com rank of nearly 20 million, the results being seen here are impressive, to say the least.

The rank by country is calculated using a combination of average daily visitors to i-get-going-today.com's and pageviews on i-get-going-today.com from users from that country over the past 3 months. The site with the highest combination of visitors and pageviews is ranked #1 in that country.

These Results are Updated Daily on Alexa.com

While other, so called SEO experts are scurrying around, trying to figure out Google's new Panda Algorithm and such like, I simply go about my work as usual, writing content about the timely topics of marketing your business, as it applies to my businesses. This work speaks highly for the results being seen, and I trust that my Google readers will take hold of the concept here, and go right ahead with their content writing.

As previously written, I have been experimenting using different techniques and strategies that would improve this old domain's search rankings. The process is coming along nicely, but I wanted something more than a WordPress blog for this site.

I decided to redesign the site with the standard Veretekk look alike system, as Veretekk, and SEO are my primary businesses, I decided to choose this particular site design as created by Tom Prendergast. There simply is not another more intuitive and creative genius than Tom, so I figured this would be a perfect representation for me to take and use to suit my own particular promoting needs.

I have presentations concerning how to make money. I start the day by going to my EditPlus html editor and writing an new article using simple coding and past it into a post on a blog such as Veretekk Internet Marketing Business Asia. I then copy the post url and submit the link to Google.
Next I log into my Veretekk system and open the Platinum control panel, selecting the the blogging feature. I then choose RSS feeds and select which Blogfather blog I wish to update and copy the post url. I go back to my EditPlus and add a line at top of post with the same backlink to the source of the original article. Finally I copy the modified article into the RSS feed and submit it. This simple action will then submit the entry into some 150,000 blogs each linking back to my original post.
But I don't stop there I next click on the Blogger bully Tool, which allows me to remotely update up to 100 wordpress and blogger blogs.
My penultimate step is to go to first family classifieds and submit the article as an advert for the Search engine spiders to find.
Finally I go to free page and build a simple web page around the same article content.
The longest part of the procedure is in fact writing the original document once that is done its a matter of simple Copy, pasting and filling in boxes taking about 15 minutes a day.

When you consider the Internet, and how Google assimilates information and supposedly places the best information on a particular subject at the top position, you must consider that perception of the reader plays an integral part in the process.

Its apparent that most are relatively clueless on the process known as search engine optimisation. In their minds, or what they perceive to be reality, is in fact not the case at all. This process called obtaining a top position for a website is all about actively submitting live content. The problem with this is simply the fact this its just too simple.

You have just submitted your site to a very substantial aged domain service, and Google will pick up on your content very quickly.

Here is the Process

Create 1000 First Family Ads pointing to your marketing site. Create 500 Free Pages. After you have done this, go and create more. I could run, and have done so, a highly effective SEO campaign just using these two systems.

I think you are concentrating on the wrong areas, safelist do not produce results and email is no longer the marketing tool it used to be.
People are sick and tired of people selling from adverts on TV, Phone calls emails and even text messages, they are big turnoffs. what you need to do us to learn to market not to sell. what are people looking for and what solutions can your product or services provide.
You would be better to spend your time building your own quality backlinks, because quality is the key to success. do not write stupid comments on forums and blogs just to get a backlink from the signature, especially if the subject is not connected to your business.
Build your own blogs and simple one page websites providing quality information backlinking to your own site
Now I have spotted one reason that I think you are not yet making making money, Your website is a cloned site and it does not have any metatags or any way of providing updated content from RSS feeds etc. You will never rank high in results because its like an affiliate site.
I suggest you do some keyword research on "speeding up your computer" etc, buy a domain name that includes your best keyword. Build a simple blog of your own and write daily posts and pass the results to Clickbank.
Do not be satisfied with being part of the herd you need to set your sights on becoming a leader.

The first thing to remember is that earning money online is not easy and very few people actually earn their living online. you need to be prepared to do a lot of research and planning. Once you have selected your area or niche you can get down to some in depth research using Google and Alexa to find out what people are searching for and what kind of traffic you can expect. You need to examine keywords that are popular and one of the tools you can use is the Google keyword tool, but remember that this is biased towards pay per click (PPC) advertising and if you are looking to dominate organic search results one tip I have ,is to avoid choosing any keyword phrase that does not have paid advertising on the right hand side, as you might dominate this keyword but get no traffic.

Your research may take weeks but it will form the bedrock of your business so don't be tempted to rush it. Once you have your keywords it time to set up a site and to be honest it is easier to use a blog rather than a traditional site as it is more dynamic which will result in better indexing. Remember when choosing a both a domain name and title think keywords. You also need to add relevant metatags for keywords,description,Google,Alexa, Bing etc. Once your site is live then you need to add keyword specific content on a daily basis and also start building backlinks by posting to classified ad sites and build standalone webpages.

Email marketing used to be a good way to market your business, but now due to the influx of scammers and spammers its is largely ineffective, unless first contact is made my some others means.

Many people wonder why it is that when they use an email blaster they get no response and the answer actually often lies in the message they are sending out, if all you are sending is an advert for your latest get rich quick scheme, the first stumbling block is the various spam traps which will be searching for spam content.

The best emails are those sent out in plain text but people often insist in adding banners and photos, which to be honest and no place in emails, especially with the growing trend of small mobile devices, which cannot display them and often cost the user money due to data fees.

Yes people want information, which may answer questions or expand on the use of your product or service but they do not want to be pressurised to buy, with special gimmicks.

So how do you run a successful marketing campaign for your business, well the first thing to do is to start building a rapport with the client and discover what it is that they want that you can provide. It has long being known that direct marketing of Affiliate links is not effective as they rarely appear in search engine results. however the latest changes appear to have a broader affect when marketing your business.

Today Butch Hamilton Veretekk's Director of Marketing introduced, the correct use of titles when marketing your business online, during his weekly webinar.

Titles are a very important area for SEO and many people fail to use them correctly. A title needs to always include your keyword and not something like "Special Offer" so as you can see on this post the title is marketing your business.

Now if you have a Blog, it is not unusual for many of the posts the carry the same titles as the keywords you are chasing down and there is nothing wrong with this because the search engine spiders will use your title as they index your posts, so that eventually you will begin to dominate your chosen keyword or keyword phrase.

Titles form a part of the keyword flow of information that you present to search engine robots, starting with the title of the website or blog and flowing via the posts into the content itself which will add information about a particular keyword.

Links coming into your site also need to carry keyword titles which will add more authority to your site especially when they come from sites with low Alexa ranking about the subject of your keywords. SEO Techniques are used to raise the profile of a website or blog in natural search engine results as opposed to PPC advertising where the highest bidder get tops exposure.

There is nothing mystical about SEO, it is a matter of plain common sense, although many so called gurus will attempt to confuse the issue talking about Google Panda updates and black hat methods of trying to beat the Google algorithms.

SEO start with the basics of finding a niche market and researching the relevant keywords. Then you purchase a domain containing your main keyword.

The next stage is important you need to build a website or blog paying attention to title, metatags and content. Content is king and you will need to provide fresh content on a daily basis.

Once you have your website complete, submit it to Google and then start building backlinks. Your back links need to come from sites which have contents relevant to your keywords and the links need to contain your main keywords.

The method I use is to build 500 one page web sites and place 1,000 classified adverts each containing more information about my chosen niche. now once the initial target is reached, I actually continue adding new web sites and ads on a daily basis.

You also need to write Press releases whenever to have something to share about your business.

You can build further links by creating blogs all leading back to your main site or blog, overtime you will see your Alexa ranking reduce and your Google search results improve.

To be honest I do not recommend blog commenting except where the blog is about your niche and remember when you are posting comments in blogs on forums you need to supply good content. Far too many people tend to post frivolous comments just to promote their signature link, this is BAD practice and will often get you banned as a spammer.

How much time do you spend research keywords to market your business, a few seconds, minutes, hours or weeks, there is no real answer but the estimated research time for Keyword Selection is generally between 3 to 20 hours or if you are a novice up to 40 hours. The more time spent on research the better your chances of success. On occasions I have spent up to a month analysing data.

When you first come up with a keyword idea enter it into a Google search box and look to see how many pay per click (PPC) adverts are on the results page, the more the better, if there are none I suggest you choose another keyword.

Next look at the top results and using Alexa examine the traffic and links, the lower the Alexa ranking the better. You also need to look at the web site design to check on the metatag information to discover what keywords are being targeted, because they will be your competitors in marketing your business.

When you are starting out you are of course keen for success but sometimes you may be better to start with a long tailed keyword, which contains your main keyword, if you use the Google Keyword tool this will help select alternative keywords.

Selecting your keyword is the first stage of marketing your business, next you will need to build a web site, blog or landing page, remembering, that you need to include your main keyword in the domain name, title and metatags.

One of the most important methods to improve your search engine results is to build backlinks now many people think that this just involves making a few comments on blogs and in forums and this is entirely wrong and will often get you banned. So what are the alternatives well you could buy links but I would not recommend this as what is the point of having links on a website that has absolutely nothing to do with the content of your own site.

The best alternative in my opinion is to build your own links in high traffic sites such as Freepage and 1-family classifieds which have Alexa rankings of 100,000 and 150,000 respectively and are frequently visited by search engine robots.

So what content do you put on these sites, well for one you do not advertise even on 1 Family classifieds, you provide information or spider food for robots. Butch Hamilton is a master of this technique and I would even go as far as suggesting you to subscribe to one of his feeds to learn for yourself.

You need to get into a routine of writing posts in both of these systems on a daily basis and over time you will build massive backlinks. Now some people have writers block and generally this is because they are trying to promote something they know nothing about. Knowledge is king you need to study and learn about your business in order to be successful, as you learn then you can write about it, its a two way process.

I know that when I first started marking I used to use pre written sales letters for products I was selling, you know the one I mean how I lost 22 lbs in four weeks etc. Now I have never had a weight problem, my weight has been constant for 40 years, so it is right to market in this way.

Generally speaking I avoid making these statements because I no longer try to sell my products but just present information relating to the products, so in the case of the example above I would write an article about the benefits of losing weight.

I have not been posting recently as I have been engaged in conversations on a few forums, studying what works and what doesn't. No - forums are designed for discussion not as a place to build backlinks as some people try.

Forums such as The Warrior Forum and WAHM do not allow signatures to be added to posts until a certain criteria is met, in order to reduce fly bye posters. Usually there are also rules about links in posts or where you can promote you business, break any of the rules and you will be suspended or even banned. They are however great place to learn about marketing you business and at the same time get answers to questions or clarification on what works and what doesn't. But not everyone understand the advise been given out.

I having been looking at how people advertise their business in the WAHM forum and these are some of the headings.

All the above posts contain exactly the same content, nothing new or informative a complete waste of time, unfortunately all they do is clog the system, I do not know why they continue.

You need to engage the reader and earn their trust and respect, providing information which will assist them in making a decision, rather than try to wear them down with the same old tired message. This is a continuation of my previous post which I also posted on on the warrior forum which has an Alexa ranking of 139, meaning it is popular place to discuss Internet business. Now I am talking about discussions, not just somewhere to post a comment. There are many differing opinions but in general their is a realisation that free is not good for business. One comment was from someone who was prepared to give away a million copies of his software, just to have a huge list to market too, this is a big mistake, if he had only charged $1 he could have put a million dollars in the bank. The old saying is a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush springs to mind

There is no such thing as a free lunch, if you want something you need to be prepared to pay for it, if you want people to work with you you want a commitment and someone will always perform better if money is at stake.

Some years ago when I was running a Pub I discovered that by linking staff payments to the weekly takings the staff loyalty and turnover increased, and the staff also started coming up with ideas on how to attract more customers. One idea was to replace buy one get one free with 4 glasses for the price of 3 and it worked great.

Why Free does not work

Many marketers suggest giving away something free when marketing you business online, but this can attract the wrong type of people. If you are selling a product or service which requires ongoing payments by customers you are better to be honest and inform them up front. I have seen many people suckered into a business and then finding out that they need to spend hundreds and sometimes thousands to purchase extra essential tools, leads and websites. this is bad for business and usually forms part of some get rich quick scam.

The other thing to remember if you are using an email campaign is free is a word often blocked by spam checkers so your messages will not get through.

If people cannot afford you product or service don't let them waste your time, it is better spent your energy nurturing customers who do have money, to be honest people who want to succeed will find the money. Some people will even hold a garage sale to start their business.

The stark fact is you cannot start any kind of business without money online is no different to offline. You need to put your money where your mouth is and yes it also means you have to work at it. It might take a minimum of six months before you get a return on your investment and longer to get into profit. Offline it takes years to get into profit and the costs are greater.

So now you see why free does not work.

Selling you property can be a very time consuming business if you do not get it right and many people prefer to use an Agent or Realtor to save them the time and effort, however there is always the question arising are they value for money. More people are now turning to the Internet and placing their own adverts on classified sites. Where their adverts may be hidden amongst other categories, now I have been marketing on line for many years and know that placing classified ads online just does not bring results.

You need to to have your property information on a site specialising in properties. When I sold my property in Malaysia, I actually built and promoted a website solely to sell my condominium and it worked my property appeared in top search engine results and was sold in a month. compare that with a friend of mine who's apartment in the same condominium which was been marketed by an estate agent and also by his own online placing of classifieds which took over a year to sell.

Not only did mine sell quicker but I got a higher price and saved some 10% in agents fees. Now building a website just to sell one property is not feasible for most people, so the next best thing is to find a property marketing site site which has clients searching for properties.

Today was a day of frustrations, it started ok I did my online marketing and then decided to to do some offline marketing of my sell my house property business, but combine that with a fitness session by using my mountain bike. The route I chose was the old coastal road. I packed a few leaflets in my hydration pack and set off. Before I had gone too far I had to stop and adjust my saddle as it was working loose on the gravel dirt track. Saddle fixed and I was on my way, spotted a house with a for sale sign. Nice house but no one home, tool some pictures and set off down the route. A few miles later another nice house but again no one home. spoke to neighbours across road and learn owner has Internet cafe in Sindangan. Got the phone number, readjusted my saddle and decided to head home for lunch.

After lunch, started trying to contact owners of properties and guess what not one reply. One person had 5 different numbers and did not answer, unbelievable. I had one email address but that was useless as the domain was missing. I tried on and off all afternoon and by evening time the whole network was busy so what can one do.

Yes network problem's are out with ones control however if you want to sell something you need to answer phones, it is almost as if the owners are not interested in selling.

Today is a departure from my usual tips on how to market your business, as I discovered new company with a unique marketing plan which not only can save people money when moving house but can also be turned into a business. The worlds finances are still in dire strakes and many people are struggling to sell houses to reduce their debt burden. The problem is there are few buyers and the costs of moving house can mount up quickly. I should know having moved house earlier this year.

The company provides a free listing for all sellers and if the property is not sold in 12 weeks pay the seller a small weekly compensation until sold.
Buyers are also encouraged to use the service and will have legal fees and survey paid plus 50% of removals costs.

That is a win win situation for both parties, but how can they afford all this, the answer is advertising, you see moving home incurs many ancillary costs and companies are only to keen to keen to have advertising on high traffic sites listed in Alexa. On top of which they have a number of international investors.

So now what of the business side, well interested parties can buy a franchise for a particular area and earn commissions on all sales in that area, in addition they can earn money from sub affiliates either in their area or from anywhere in the world. Now I think they have all angles covered and we will have to see how everything pans out, The only thing I do not like is the early starter Guarantees, which sound a bit get rich quick, but I can understand this is needed in order to get the all areas covered as soon as possible and the guarantees will not last forever.

Creative Writing for the Internet

You can easily get your creative writing juices flowing my starting some form of daily diary, keeping people up to date about what you are doing, it does not have to be too elaborate. But it will soon become a habit. I actually started creative writing on the Internet to support adventure racing, and produced daily blogs and reports on my exploits which people found interesting and enabled me to get sponsors each race cost on average $12,000 for entries, travel etc.

Below is am example of todays diary, one of my long term aims is to organise adventure sports in the Philippines so I am running a dairy which let people know about my interests a mixture of work and pleasure letting people know I am a real person not just someone trying to make money from them.

Today was an interesting day, started well with an online webinar where Tom Prendergast explained how Blogfather RSS feeds can be used as SEO assets to power unlimited websites, a great reminder on how easy SEO can be. I then spend a couple of hours on marketing before going out on my mountain bike.

I use my mountain bike as a way to keep fit and today was a trip of exploration the first part of the trip was along a road that I had driven in my 4*4, its strange when driving it did not seem that most of it was uphill. Anyway I crossed the main Sindangan- Dipolog road and up a sharp short hill along a stony track into the unknown, hoping that it would lead me to the coastal road and home. The ride was quite interesting passing my occasional houses and a couple of villages. there were a few people on the track and 3 to 4 motorbikes. The track undulated and twisted and turned around small hill and at one place I nearly got caught out, heading downhill I rounded a corner to find a rubbish tip with people dumping rubbish down a hillside, the stones were replaced by thick mud, not the place to fall, I was lucky dodging a couple of dogs and was soon climbing up the next hill. Eventually I reached the summit and could see the vista of Sindangan Bay and the track dropped sharpl y away. At times I had to keep the brakes on a go slowly not knowing what was around the corner, at other times I could just let rip. Towards the end a motor cycle passed me and I speeded up using him as a guide as to what lay ahead. The track did join the coastal route some 500 metres from my starting point, so now I have a second circular route.

Back home I discovered my satellite card is not working so i tried to contact the provider Cignal with little success kept getting crossed lines or calls would drop out, got very frustrated, tried emailing but replies take 48 hours or more. Talk of how not to run a business. Cignal do not know what service is. so guess the evening entertainment will be reading.

Using a blog for marketing your business

Many people and some businesses use a blog as their main website because they are easier to set up and need no specialised knowledge. Your blog can be hosted on a public site such as Blogger, which is owned by Google or Wordpress.com however Wordpress does not accept business blogs. The problem with public sites is they can get shutdown without warning and for no apparent reason so you are best to place a blog on your own website.

You can download and install a blog from WordPress.org or if you have web hosting that includes Fantastico you can use that to easily install a new Wordpress blog.

When you install your blog remember to choose a good keyword for its name. Everything you do online for marketing your business revolves around keywords so you should keep track of all your keyword research and store it in a document for easy reference.

I advice people to publish new content on a daily basis if possible, that way you can add the RSS feed to your main website to provide a source of new data for the search engine spiders to read and index. Make full use of Categories and Tags to list all your keywords and link to other relevant websites and blogs that you own.

Creating writing for the Internet is not as difficulty as you think, it is not like writing a novel when you first have to think out an outline plot, and details and characters before you can even begin to write. You are writing about your business, your livelihood which should supply many angles to follow up on.

Some people if starting a new business as an affiliate may have an initial problem, in that they may not know much about the business. However one way around this is to write a blog on a daily basis about what they are learning about their new business. In the back office of many sites there is information and sample emails which can be used for marketing your business and also form the basis and source of your creative writing.

One tip which is worth remembering when creative writing, is to keep a copy of all your work, overtime this will develop into your own library on various subjects, on days when you cannot think what to write about you can revisit these documents and rewrite some of the contents, it maybe as simple as finding and replacing one keyword phrase with another to create a new blog entry.

Quite often when doing you creative writing research you will find an article which provides you with another idea to form the basis of a future post just remember to bookmark the article for future use, rather than following up immediately which can district you from your current task.

Your email address

When marketing your business on the Internet, your email address forms part of your branding and in order to present the right image you must use an address that points to your own domain. Since I have moved to the Philippines, I have noticed that many companies use a yahoo email address. This is not good business practice.

Email is an important communications channel for marketing your business and in order to have full control you must use your own domain, where you can have full control over you system to control spam and ensure at the same time mail get through to customers.

Yahoo is particularly bad for blocking incoming mail for no apparent reason, so you do not even know email is missing, Yahoo also has a habit of taking over your computer and altering how you computer works to benefit Yahoo. Other free mail services such as Hotmail and Google are just as bad for business. Lets look at a couple of aspects

Technical

You get more reports of problems with free mail services. Mail that disappears, account access that's lost, email that doesn't arrive, email that can't be sent ... these are all common issues that I see every day.
Because they all share one common characteristic: there's virtually no customer service.
If you have a problem with Hotmail, or Yahoo mail, or Google mail or whatever free email service you're using, you have nowhere to turn. There may be a customer service email address or web form, but from what I've heard and experienced myself, it's apparently only there for show. IF you get a response at all, which is rare, it's likely to take a long time and be a "canned" response. If you need hands-on help to deal with your particular situation, there's nowhere to go.
Because you're getting what you paid for. You paid nothing, and that's what you're getting. The provider is under no obligation to do anything for you. They're well within their rights to ignore you completely, which is apparently what most do.
At least if you pay someone for service you have some leverage. First of all, these providers typically promise service, and if they don't deliver, you have the option of taking your business elsewhere.

Perception

When I see a business using a free email account, particularly a Yahoo account, I immediately think: "this business doesn't care about email, or using the Internet to communicate with their customers."
This perception is shared with Internet-savvy customers.
The perception might be wrong.. The company may be deeply devoted to their Internet-using customers. But using a free email account doesn't say that. A free email account says "we're not willing to take the relatively small expense to make sure we have reliable email".
In my opinion, any business small or large, should have their own Internet domain, and handle their email using that domain. Most domain registrars make that easy, and offer very competitively priced packages, including customer support.
"Company@yahoo.com" will always look cheaper and less professional than "anything@company.com". Not to mention that "company@yahoo.com" is more likely to have technical problems without anyone to help you resolve them.

If you are a regular user of email you will receive a lot of spam, its a fact of life and usually it comes from an address with numbers in it such as "dakar25@yahoo.com or similar, Many people set up a spam traps on their mail system to delete incoming mail with numbers automatically so it is also bad practice to use numbers as part of your email address even on your own domain. Use a meaningful address

Creative Writing For The Internet Back Links

I do not know what it is about Internet marketing but the same questions are repeated time and time again in various forums about items such as back linking and no matter what answers are given, the question is raised again and again.

I have come to the conclusion that very few people are interested in the answers, perhaps they post to the forums to get backlinks.

When someone asks me for help in marketing their business I usually start with a test project. I discuss with them how they are marketing, what kind of keywords they are targeting and then show them two tools which I use every day a classified site and a simple web page builder. I then ask them to create 1,000 classified ads and 500 single webpages to promote their business.

The creative writing project needs to be completed for the following reasons.

To learn how to build backlinks
To learn creative writing for the Internet techniques
To prove to me they can follow instructions and are prepared to put in the time and effort to market their business

Some people are gifted and able to write thousands of words on a subject, but most cant. I for one like normally like to write as few words as possible, but this approach does not work when you are writing for the Internet. Few people will read your beautiful crafted classified ad, so do not try selling or use pictures, what you need to do is provide information for the search engine robots or spiders. The spiders are avid readers and will follow all your links seeking more information, the better the quality of the content, the more often they will return and the higher your site will rank.

One method I use is to precis an article or document, rewriting it in my own words, some people use spinning software to rewrite information but I prefer to avoid this as you tend not to read the article so you are not learning yourself.

If you are in this situation as you learn about your product or service, write about what you are learning. this will both give you more knowledge but at the same time will promote your business, its a win win situation, and is what creative writing is all about.

If you are ever running short of creative writing content use the Internet to search for information about some aspect of your business and then rewrite the information in your own words adding your own twist.

Today I was speaking with a gentleman, who signed up to use one of my marketing tools and I asked him how his business was doing and he replied that he had been working online for about a year but was having trouble getting traffic and had made no sales. I discovered he was selling Quickbank products, on delving a little deeper it turned it turned out that one of the products was a traffic generator which seemed ironic. I asked him if he used any of the products himself and he said an emphatic NO.

One basic point about marketing your business online or offline is you must know your product. Relying on the sales literature which hundreds if not thousands of other people are using just is not good enough. You need to be able to provide your unique insight, which is why some people are more successful than others.

Far too many people think that to earn money online all they have to do is post a few adverts directing people to an affiliate page and the money will come rolling in, if this was so we would all be millionaires. The way you earn money on or offline follows the same formulae Time + Effort = Money or to put it another way you earn money from the time and effort you put into your business. A traditional business needs start up capital as it is very difficult to run a business if you have no seed capital to get you going.

The cost of setting up an Internet business is much lower, but it is not free despite the many free offers you may see, to make money you need to invest money and put in time and effort to earn more.

The basic advice I gave to this Gentleman was to go back to the drawing board and find a product or service that interested him, or he had knowledge about, research this niche for money earning product and keywords and then build a blog to include a lead capture box and to provide updated information about his niche on a daily basis with links to his business sales page.

I have been hanging around a popular online forum and everyday people are asking the same old questions, how to build backlinks to websites.

Backlinks are a measure of a sites importance, the more links coming into your website from other websites the better, provided that the incoming links are correctly tagged with your keywords.

So how do we get backlinks you may ask. there are a number of ways such as buying links, link swaps etc but in my opinion the best way is to build them yourself. I build a minimum of three links every day using classified ads and webpages, in addition to links from blogs.

The first system I use is 1-Family Classifieds, which is one of the oldest classified sites on the Internet, it has an Alexa ranking of 80,000 or 30,000 in the US so information posted hear is picked up by search engine spiders.

I also use Free Page to build a one page website, no special skills are required, it just a matter of filling in a template and the web site has an Alexa ranking of 50,000 in the USA so once again it is popular.

Normally the content that I place in these sites is information about the products and services I sell, note I said information, because that is what people are looking for. Do not try to hard sell with figures, graphs and the like. Provide information that adds value to your product, remembering of course to link back to your business with your specified keyword phrase.

Remember that your same keyword phrase needs to be prominent on the page that you link back to. I does not get much simpler than this and over.

To get fast rack results I recommend building 500 single webpages and 1,000 classified ads for any new website as fast as possible.

I saw a post recently on a forum from someone who had purchased a list and could not work out why he had not got any sales after three weeks. This is a common problem, the facts are that if you purchase a list you will rarely make a profit, because the leads that you purchase are not fresh and have been probably sold to multiple customers, so when you approach them they are not interested. If you telephone them they can often be abusive.

The sad fact is that that the Internet is not rapid money making machine, it takes time sometimes months or even years to market your business.

A better way is to created a lead capture page, to capture their email and telephone number so you can start communicating with your lead by email and/or phone and building some form of relationship with them, soft selling, find out what their needs are. Just pointing them to an affiliate site rarely works.

A common mistake is to keep sending out the same message if you do you will find that either they unsubscribe or block your emails. I have some subscribers who I em ailed for over a year until they took the plunge when the time way right for them.

Now it greatly helps if your are interested and knowledgeable about your niche, because you will be providing potential customers with information which will hopefully lead to sales, if you do things right.

The next step is to research possible keywords and keyword phrases using online resources such as Alexa, Google to analyse successful sites in your chosen niche Once you have your keywords you need to buy a domain with a name that includes you main keyword phrase and start building and information rich page.

Now most successful sites are those which have a stream of updated information and one way of achieving this is via an RSS feed from a blog, so I always suggest building a blog to which you need to post new information about your niche on a daily basis, which is why it is good to work on a niche which interests you.

In addition to writing a daily blog you need to write classified ads and build addition single page websites to backlinks to your main site.

Today was a good start to the week, as I looked at the back office of my business and discovered that as a result of sending out a few real cards last week to customers who had not ordered products from me recently, I had two new orders.

There are many ways of keeping in contact with customers, with email being the most common method, however with spam filters and the way that many people often change email addresses this is beginning to lose popularity.

The telephone is a good method but here again the widespread use of phone diallers has resulted in many people switching phones to voicemail, so it can be difficult to make contact, added to which phones are often cut-off, or false numbers provided on forms.

The main point in sending out real cards to customers is you know their address is real as you have delivered products to them and people do not often move house.

I actually get pleasure in picking out real cards to send from my computer and with over 12,000 choices it will be a long time before I run out of ideas.

Mother Day is Over

You are too late to send out a real card for Mothers day, but when you think about there are many occasion cropping up on a regular basis such as birthdays marriages etc, along with Fathers days, 4th July and many other national day depending on where you live, it will not be long before its time to write another card.

In this era of advancing technology we may be forgetting how to communicate both with our customers and friends and family in the old fashioned way by sending letters and cards.

I recently realised that perhaps I have been over using technology and yes I have been sending out E-cards, but its not the same as the real thing. firstly they often get lost and secondly the receiver needs to print them out if they want to display them.

I think more joy is added, when a person gets a card and looks at the postmark to see where it comes from and then at the handwriting, to try and guess the sender before opening.

I have also started sending out cards to my customers, knowing that a lot of emails do not get through as users often change their Email accounts, but I always have a delivery address for my products.

Sending thank you cards to customers has resulted in an increase of reorders, and I believe it is a useful and forgotten tool which in these difficult economic times can make a difference.
